Im really happy to be able to say that after so many years that FINALLY we are able to return to designing new studio. the Adire HE series projects based on the Eminence coax drivers are regarded to be pretty darn good for the money, if you're looking for a taste of the technology. Tannoy Dual Concentric Studio Monitors - Advice Please Hi, Im Fred Speckeen and I work as part of the Innovation team at Tannoy/Music Group. Tannoy does make 'dual concentric' studio monitors at a much lower price point, but they aren't seen as having the same magic as the high-efficiency paper cone units. The Tannoy drivers and speakers are expensive largely because they've earned their way to the top of the 'food chain', and command a premium price. To the original poster, you probably need to distinguish between coaxial drivers in general and the Tannoy dual-concentric drivers specifically. Do you think they can hit say 400Hz in a Tractrix for low-power domestic use? I've heard good things about the Radians too.Īlso Brett - on a slightly different coaxial note, are you still using the BMS 4590's? I've been playing with some Unity style projects, but I'm starting to think that a 4590 in a round Tractrix or maybe a Geddes style elliptical OS horn would be a more straightforward way to go. The P-Audio cones look good, but I'm less sure of the compression drivers. Brett, any opinion on whether any of the current batch of pro coax driver can come close to the magical Tannoy experience? (Leaving aside things like the McCauleys which are expensive enough that you'd just get the Tannoys anyway).
